Juru is looking for a Senior Social Specialist to join the Sustainability Business Unit. You will be based in Taraz/Janatas town.
Key responsibilities:
Closely engage with relevant local state/government authorities, organizing and performing face-to-face meetings and reporting to JURU as applicable;
Organizing and performing focus-group discussions(FGD), Key informant interviews (KII) , public hearings and public disclosure with local state bodies/communities/PAPs and other Project related stakeholders as applicable;
Lead the mission and coordinate the work of social surveys (preparing questionnaires, calculate sampling size of planned survey, preparation of analytical reports incorporating the survey outcomes);
Conduct desktop-based research and collect secondary data for reports (gender, education, as well as other statistical data available);
Prepare summary reports on the key findings and results of conducted activities /surveys;
Understanding social impacts, community health and safety, gender and inclusion assessment, resettlement and land acquisition, and labor related fields;
Coordinate experts’ activities within ongoing E&S assignments;
Stay up to date with local and international environmental and social policy and regulatory framework;
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
Advanced university degree related to social science, namely in Sociology, Social Development, or other related fields (Political Science, Law, Communication, etc.);
3-5 years of previous experience working in social sector;
Proven expertise in development and implementing of international projects, related to the gender issues, community and stakeholders’ engagement, social studies, etc;
Extensive experience in public consultation and disclosure in the local context, socio-economic impacts, community health and safety, gender and inclusion assessment, resettlement and land acquisition, and labor due diligence;
Experience in the energy/E&S sector, national EIA and international ESIA (IFC, ADB, EBRD policies) is an asset;
Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking;
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team skills, ability to engage effectively with a range of partners and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds;
Strong reporting skills;
Strong work ethic and prepared to go extra distance to get the job done;
Excellent command of Kazakh, Russian (English is as asset);
Advanced user of Microsoft Office and Stata, knowledge of GIS is an asset;
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
Readiness for trips within Jambyl region, Kazakhstan.
