Nazarbayev University's School of Engineering and Digital Sciences invites applications for an Instructor position in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department to begin in summer 2026.
We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching. The selected candidate is expected to cover courses for different educational levels in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Program and also support the rest of the Programs of the Department with emphasis on Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab courses.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department achieved a significant milestone with the graduation of its inaugural undergraduate class in 2015. Offering comprehensive educational opportunities, the department provides BSc, MSc, and PhD programs, consistently attracting talented students in Kazakhstan.
The department's diverse research activities span a range of critical areas, including Electrical and Electronics, Energy, Power and Control Systems, Telecommunications, Signal Processing, AI and Machine Learning, and Computer Engineering.
We invite applications for an Instructor position in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The successful candidate will have a PhD degree from a reputable university and will combine strong teaching ability.
Qualifications
• PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a reputable university, with teaching experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in hardware–software co-design, real-time systems, reconfigurable computing, embedded system integration, PCB design and prototyping, FPGA-based system design, industrial automation and cyber-physical systems.
• Comprehensive knowledge of core and elective courses within an Electrical and Computer Engineering curriculum, including both theoretical instruction and laboratory-based teaching.
• Strong academic and applied background in Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly in applications related to electrical, embedded, and industrial systems.
• Extensive familiarity with electrical equipment, laboratory instrumentation, power electronics, motors, electric machines and drives, protection devices, and industrial electrical installations.
• Experience engaging with culturally diverse student populations and supporting inclusive learning environments.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
• Capability to design and deliver short courses and professional development programs in areas such as AI applications, FPGA design, embedded systems, PCB prototyping, industrial automation technologies, and real-time embedded programming.
What we offer:
Initial appointment is on a 3-year contract renewable subject to annual performance reviews.
