Job Description
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Nazarbayev University is seeking highly qualified full-time faculty members with international experience to join its rapidly growing program in Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences. Applicants with research and/or teaching interests are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates for the rank of Assistant Professor must have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or very closely related discipline from a reputable research university, and a demonstrated ability for research. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a willingness to collaborate within a team to deliver teaching and research related to broad area of electrical and computer engineering.
All candidates must have excellent English-language communication skills and a strong commitment to teaching and research.
Position responsibilities include an average teaching load of two (2) courses per semester, ongoing engagement in relevant professional and research activities, student advising, and other activities related to the intellectual and cultural environment of the university.
Qualifications
- PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from a reputable university, with a proven research track record and teaching experience.
- Preferred: Postdoctoral experience or a strong record of scholarly productivity.
- Proven track record of impactful research in one or more of the following areas: Embedded Systems, FPGA-based system design, Industrial Automation, Cyber-Physical Systems, or PCB design and fabrication, demonstrated by publications in reputable journals or conferences.
- Demonstrated expertise in hardware-software co-design, real-time systems, reconfigurable computing, PCB design and prototyping, embedded system integration, or industrial control systems.
- Teaching experience in Electrical and Computer Engineering, especially in courses such as Embedded Systems Design, FPGA Programming, Digital Logic Design, PCB Design and Fabrication, Industrial Control Systems, Digital System Design, or Real-Time Systems.
- Ability to secure external funding for research initiatives.
- Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with culturally diverse and underrepresented communities.
- Ability to develop and deliver short-course trainings and professional development programs in areas such as FPGA design, embedded systems, PCB prototyping, industrial automation technologies, and real-time embedded programming.
- Ability to revise and enhance curriculum to incorporate emerging technologies and industry-relevant practices in embedded system design, PCB fabrication, and automation systems.

Initial appointment is on a 3-year renewable contract and subsequent appointments can be 5- year/3-year renewable subject to annual performance reviews.
