Senior Manager performs the following duties:
1) academic guidance: provide expert academic guidance to first year undergraduate University students, ensuring they meet degree program requirements and make informed course selections tailored to their individual goals;
2) advising first and second year undergraduate University students, assisting students in selecting appropriate courses, and planning their academic trajectory to ensure timely graduation;
3) personalized assistance to fifth and sixth year undergraduate University students, considering each student's degree requirements and personal goals, providing tailored advice to help students make informed decisions;
4) degree planning: assist students in developing personalized degree plans, ensuring that they meet all academic requirements and prerequisites for their chosen major or program;
5) confidential advising notes: maintain detailed and confidential advising notes to create a historical record of each student's advising experience, ensuring the highest level of privacy and data intergrity;
6) educational transactions oversight: approve and oversee all designated educational transactions, including pre-registration/registration schedules, course adjustments and major changes;
7) personalized student communication: engage in regular, personalized communication with students to guide them through academic planning and the online registration process;
8) seamless transfers: facilitate the smooth transition of students between/within Schools, ensuring their educational journey is uninterrupted and coherent;
9) academic probation support: implement support programs for students on academic probation, helping them regain their academic footing;
10) policy expertise: serve as a policy expert, offering students, student-related staff and Faculty clear and precise interpretations of University policies and procedures, enhancing their understanding and compliance;
11) curriculum alignment: ensure that assigned students' semester schedules align with their academic program of study, optimizing their path to graduation;
12) support services: collaborate with other student support services to address students' needs, including referrals for tutoring, mental health counseling, or accessibility services;
13) inter-departmental collaboration: collaborate effectively with other Schools and structural divisions to address inquiries, fostering a seamless academic experience;
14) professional development: stay current with best practices in academic advising, attend professional development opportunities, and contribute to the development of the advising team through continuous professional development through memberships in relevant organizations, attendance at conferences, workshops, and Division training sessions, ensuring cutting-edge advising practices.
Work experience in the areas corresponding to the functional areas of the position in the public service, international and/or national companies, or higher education and/or a non-governmental organization that focuses on student affairs and/or counseling is preferred.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds;
Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage a team and resources effectively;
Knowledge of best practices in academic advising, program development, and student support services;
Proficiency in data analysis, using analytics to drive informed decisions and improvements;
Proficiency in relevant computer software and student information systems;
Mentoring and training abilities, ensuring junior advisors develop the necessary skills and knowledge to support students effectively.
