An Art & Design Technician's primary responsibility is to support teaching and learning in the art and design department by managing and maintaining materials, tools, equipment, and teaching spaces. They ensure a safe and organized environment for students and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Equipment and Material Management:

• Setup and maintenance of various equipment.
• Stock control and ordering of items.
• Ensuring a safe and functional working environment.
• Organization, storage, and disposal of equipment and materials, including chemicals.

Technical Support:

• Providing technical assistance and guidance to students and staff.
• Demonstrating the safe use of materials and techniques.
• Maintaining of equipment.

Administrative Tasks:

• Keeping an updated inventory of equipment and consumables.
• Maintaining records of equipment usage and maintenance.
• Setting up displays for exhibitions and open days.
• Assisting with other departmental tasks, as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Qualification: A bachelor's degree or diploma in art and design programme

Technical Skills: Knowledge of various art and design techniques, equipment, and materials.

Organizational Skills: Effectively managing stock, equipment, and teaching spaces.

IT Skills: Basic computer skills for record-keeping and other tasks.

Experience: Experience working with or supporting learners, preferably in an educational institute.
