Shell Kazakhstan is seeking an experienced Social Performance (SP) Advisor to join our team and lead efforts in social impact management and strategic social investment across our projects and assets. The role will support SP delivery by inspiring people and unlocking leadership such that all staff are able to appropriately identify and manage social risks, impacts and opportunities in support of business outcomes and societal license to operate. This is pivotal in ensuring our business delivers meaningful, measurable, and sustainable outcomes for communities, while aligning with global standards and corporate values.
The role is also part of Shell’s global SP Center of Excellence team which maintains oversight of emerging social risks and opportunities, capability development and performance communication, both internally and externally.

Accountabilities:
Serve as SP advisor to Joint Ventures, supporting their delivery of social risk and impact management, community engagement including the management and execution of community feedback mechanism (CFM) and Social Investment.
Provide expert guidance on critical risk areas (such as community health, cultural heritage, resettlement) while leveraging related strategies/processes and internal expertise.
Facilitate SP integration into business, functional and reputation plans.
Advice on SP integration into business processes such as the Opportunity Realization Standard and Hazards & Effects Management Process, Audits, Value Assurance Reviews and Social Impact Assessment.
Lead development and execution of local and national Social Investment Strategy, ensuring alignment with community needs and business priorities.
Manage the annual social investment budget cycle, including forecasting, contracting, and performance tracking against KPIs and risk mitigation measures.
Facilitate assurance processes with CR colleagues to ensure business and functional inputs are represented and actively work towards achieving improvements where required.
Participate in SP competence development across the business, including training and coaching of JVs’ Social Performance teams.
Collaborate with CR colleagues to document and share good practices, success stories and lessons learned across the country.
Requirements
Minimum 8 years of experience working and partnering with business colleagues and integrating SP into business decisions.
Advanced degree in environmental studies, social sciences, public policy, sustainability or other related disciplines is preferred. Candidates with substantial professional experience in SP may also be considered.
Extensive industry experience with SP in operations and projects, business processes, Stage-Gated Project Development Frameworks, and Hazards & Effects Management Process (HEMP).
Deep experience in applying international standards (e.g., IFC performance standards).
Proven track record in managing complex social risks such as resettlement, cultural heritage, and community health.
Strong commercial mindset and understanding of the industry drivers and threats in Kazakhstan.
Willingness to travel to project and asset sites for support and assurance activities.
Proficient level of English, Kazakh and Russian.
