Our Tax Advisory practice supports clients across energy, infrastructure, finance, construction, FMCG and other industries, advising on complex local and cross-border tax matters.
Unicase is seeking an Associate to join our Tax Advisory team in Almaty or Astana.
This role is suitable for a lawyer with solid tax experience who is ready to take more responsibility in advisory projects, work directly with clients and support complex transactional and regulatory matters.
Advise clients on issues of Kazakhstani tax legislation (CIT, VAT, withholding tax, etc.).
Analyse tax implications of corporate, M&A and financing transactions.
Participate in tax structuring of local and cross-border projects.
Prepare tax opinions, memoranda and written advisory reports.
Conduct tax due diligence and prepare risk assessment reports.
Support clients during tax audits and prepare responses to tax authority inquiries.
Liaise with tax authorities and regulators where required.
Monitor legislative developments and prepare client updates.
Participate in client meetings and assist in presentations.
Law degree from a reputable university.
2–4 years of relevant experience in tax advisory, law firm or Big4.
Strong knowledge of Kazakhstani tax legislation.
Understanding of corporate and international tax principles.
Strong analytical and drafting skills.
Ability to work independently and manage parts of projects.
English – C1 (advanced); Russian – fluent; Kazakh is an advantage.
High level of responsibility and attention to detail.
