Andersen is hiring a Python Developer with AWS to build onboarding services for a UK digital bank, expanding savings products and improving scalability and reliability of the core banking platform.
The customer is a UK-based digital bank. This innovative financial institution specializes in delivering straightforward savings and lending products through a modular, tech-driven approach. With operations rooted in Wales and London, it focuses on underserved customer segments by offering tailored solutions such as dynamic-rate personal loans and simplified mortgage services. It continues to grow rapidly, combining fintech agility with the stability of a fully licensed bank.
The project is focused on enabling customer onboarding to a core banking platform for a range of savings products, including fixed-term, easy-access, and notice accounts. Its mission is to diversify the savings portfolio, improve market competitiveness, and strengthen liquidity to support broader financial offerings.
Technology stack on the project: Python, AWS, Git Flow, GitHub, Git Actions, CI/CD, RESTful API, SQL.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and implementing various services and functions using Python and serverless components of the AWS cloud based on provided requirements/tasks specifications.
- Resolving bugs and helping support teams with issues investigations.
- Supporting QA teams and business analysis with the inputs from development.
- Being an essential part of a Kanban-based team (be present on standups, clearly report progress, plans and blockers).
Must-haves:
- Commercial experience with Python for 4+ years.
- Practical experience with AWS services such as DynamoDB, API Gateway, AWS Lambda, S3, Step functions, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Secrets manager.
- Experience with serverless architecture (idempotency, impact of lambda cold starts, error handling (e.g. retries), event schema management), design patterns, and best practices.
- Basic understanding of security concepts in general and in AWS (IAM permissions).
- Experience with building event-driven systems and experience with event-driven messaging patterns and techniques like Event Sourcing and CQRS.
- Proficiency in Git Flow, GitHub, and Git Actions.
- Practical experience with CI/CD processes, specifically using CloudFormation/Terraform.
- Experience with RESTful APIs.
- Development experience with SQL.
- Level of English – Intermediate+.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience in FinTech and Banking (or understanding of the industry).
- Understanding of exception handling.
