Knorr-Bremse Rail Vehicle Systems Kazakhstan is seeking an experienced and skilled Accountant to join our team in Astana. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a globally recognized company, supporting our operations in the reselling of rail vehicle spare parts and providing warranty repair services to clients in Kazakhstan and abroad.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute all accounting operations in strict compliance with Kazakh tax legislation, local GAAP, and IFRS standards.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, adhering to both Kazakhstani reporting schedule.
• Oversee the timely calculation and transfer of taxes, salaries, and other financial transactions, ensuring full adherence to local regulations and internal policies.
• Prepare and manage tax returns in compliance with Kazakhstan’s tax laws, customs regulations, and international VAT requirements, with a particular focus on cross-border transactions.
• Assist the Controller/Operator in preparing and submitting regular corporate reports in accordance with the corporate reporting schedule.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with corporate standards and regulatory requirements, and contribute to the annual self-assessment procedure.
• Collaborate closely with the Controller/Operator and teams across service operations, sales, and logistics to ensure timely updates to relevant data in the local ERP and support strategic financial decision-making.
• Assist the Controller/Operator with SAP ERP reporting by providing accurate data and guidance, ensuring accurate transaction posting and consistency across corporate financial systems.
• Manage online banking operations, including creating payment orders, verifying amounts and bank details, and preparing weekly payment registers for Managing Director approval.
• Perform other functions relevant to the position.

Core Competencies:

• Extensive knowledge of Kazakhstan tax legislation, local accounting principles, and IFRS.
• At least five years of experience in accounting, economic, financial, auditing, control, or analytical roles.
• Proven experience as a senior accountant in companies working with foreign suppliers and customers, with a solid understanding of customs procedures, VAT requirements, and unique aspects of cross-border transactions.
• Strong grasp of key financial performance indicators (e.g., EBIT, EBITDA) used in corporate and management reporting.
• Proficiency with 1C and SAP ERP systems, with the ability to use these platforms professionally to ensure accuracy and consistency of financial data across multiple systems.
• Skilled in online banking operations, including generating payment orders, verifying bank details, and managing accurate transaction processing.

Additional Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, or a local equivalent) is highly desirable.
• Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in English (B2 level or higher) is a significant advantage for effective communication with international colleagues and partners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with a diverse team.
